ORBIT ( Oncology Research for Biologics and Immunotherapy Translation) is a platform under the Therapeutics Discovery Division at MD Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC), Houston, Texas. MDACC is a recognized leader in the discovery and development of innovative therapies that help patients to prevail over cancer disease. ORBIT is a centralized MDACC platform that guides, inform, accelerate and execute the translation of novel discoveries into clinically relevant cancer bio-therapeutics. We are seeking a highly motivated Institute Research Investigator to join our efforts in discovery and development of novel anti-cancer biologics. The successful candidate is expected to be a bench scientist and will use a wide range of techniques in monoclonal antibody generation, screening and characterization from lead identification, optimization and clinical candidate selection. This individual will have a broad knowledge in the field of protein science and will collaborate with other team members to advance our programs in the pipeline. Previous experience in biotech and/or pharma specialized in antibody discovery and development projects is highly preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
Required: Six years experience of relevant research experience in laboratory With Master's degree, four years of required experience. With a PhD in a natural science or Medical degree, no experience required.

Key responsibilities:
- Perform protein/antibody expression, purification, and analytical characterization for therapeutic targets
- Complete antibody library generation, screening assays, and antibody engineering for humanization, affinity maturation and lead optimization
- Perform analytical characterization of antibody and its interaction with antigen using state of the art technologies, i.e., SPR/OCTET and UHPLC-SEC
- Run LC-MS/MS for large molecules and MRM/SRM for peptide quantifications
- Generate and screen therapeutic antibodies using hybridomas, single B-cloning technology or related technologies
- Perform molecular biology techniques for HTP cloning and expression plasmid constructions
- Contribute to write technical reports for patent applications, IND reports and scientific publications
- Record and present data & findings in a timely manner to leadership team
- Assist and guide associate scientists to strategize work flow to reach milestones
Skills:
- Strong communication abilities in both writing and verbal are essential
- Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage several projects simultaneously are required
- Dedication, focus, quick learning abilities, and the aptitude to multitask are desirable
- Intellectually curious and well informed on the latest scientific advances in the field are preferred qualities
- Demonstrated creativity and novel approaches to solving scientific problems is ideal
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with people, internally and externally is required
- Detail-oriented with excellent record-keeping skills is required
