The Village of Key Biscayne, incorporated on June 18, 1991, is located in the center 1.25 square miles of a four-mile-long, two-mile-wide barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay. The island is connected via causeway and bridges to the City of Miami on the mainland, approximately seven miles away. Key Biscayne, one of the most densely populated communities in the United States, is a vibrant, residential community of more than 14,800 residents.
The Village of Key Biscayne is seeking a Information Systems Administrator. The Information Systems Administrator is under the general supervision of the MIS Manager or Administrative Lieutenant or designee. He/She monitors and controls the village’s public safety Local Access Networks (L.A.N.) to ensure accuracy and efficient processing of data.
The Information Systems Administrator’s primary focus will involve:
- Management of the public safety department's computer systems.
- Organizes application user groups for better communications between department members and components, and to eliminate redundancy of data.
- Installation and upgrades of department’s CAD/RMS/MCT/MFR systems.
- Monitors the network systems to ensure connectivity. Assists end users in general operation of systems. Troubleshoots systems and ensures operational standards.
- Assessment and determination of the optimal computer hardware and software for meeting the department's administrative needs.
- Evaluates and recommends repairs and future projects. Performs replacement of defective equipment.
- Coordinates on-going computer training (CAD, RMS, MCT, FTO, FCIC/NCIC, DAVID and department security systems) for users.
- Coordinates with outside consultants on special projects.
- Prepares specifications for requests for proposals; prepares and/or reviews contracts; coordinates the installation, procedure development and user training for new systems.
- Assists in preparation of operating and capital budgets for the Information Systems operation of the department.
- Maintains and monitors Firewalls and Access Control in accordance with FBI CJIS Security Policy.
- Provides First-In Alerting System, web-based systems, communications, hardware, and EOC (Emergency Operations Center) operations support.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in computer science, management of information resources, or related field .
- Three to five years of professional information technology management experience, some of which has been in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Subject matter expert in information technology systems, applications, and solutions, to include data communications, cyber security, radio and telephone communications systems, inter/intranet structure transmissions, LAN/WAN installation and maintenance
- Must be fluent in the English language. Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certification, Cisco Certified Network Engineer (CCNE) certification and other Microsoft and Cisco certifications.
- Knowledge of Advanced VMware.
