JOB SUMMARY

Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation equips those serving young children and families to facilitate children’s healthy growth and development. The Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Community Consultant (IECMHCC) works to promote strong relationships and build capacity among professionals in the community and within Parent Child Center, so that they can support and enhance the protective factors of families to help children thrive in their communities. The aim of the IECMHC is to build adults’ capacities to strengthen and support healthy social emotional development of children – early and before higher levels of intervention is needed. The IECMHC is responsible for providing education, training, and mentorship to further workforce development and system improvement initiatives for professionals serving infants, toddlers, and their caregivers in Tulsa & surrounding areas. The IECMHC also facilitates educational training and advocacy efforts to promote prevention of child abuse and neglect within the community at large and across the State of Oklahoma.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide training and continuing education opportunities across systems (legal, medical, Safe Babies Court Team, child care, education, child welfare, mental health, substance abuse, and internally at PCCT) on topics such as Infant/Early Child Mental Health (IECMH), neurodevelopment, trauma-informed care, diversity-equity- inclusion (DEI), and general child development & mental health to professionals in order to increase awareness of best practices in the field of Infant Mental Health.
  • Promote, provide, facilitate and participate in reflective practice and supervision/consultation within PCCT, throughout the community and state in an effort to embed the reflective practice in infant/child-serving organizations.
  • Participate in and promote collaborative relationships to foster the development of an IMH-informed system by serving on community coalitions/collaborations, state/local organizations, and/or the committees focused on Infant Mental Health workforce development, research, and practice that targets trauma-informed care and the prevention of child abuse and neglect.
  • Assist in workforce development initiatives for a Reflective Consultation pool of providers in the state; work with these providers to disseminate IMH training.
  • Maintain a monthly activity log to capture activities, services, and data on tasks associated with IECMHCC responsibilities and grant funding; maintain records and submit monthly reports on activities and data collected (ex. pre/post-tests, surveys, demographic information, number of participants, etc.); Communicate and collaborate with Director of Data and Quality Assurance regarding data/outcomes.
  • Engage in professional learning opportunities such as formalized training, workshops/conferences, supervision, and self-study to maintain annual professional counseling licensure (including ethics & supervision*) continuing education requirements and to facilitate professional growth and development. Participate in department and all-agency team meetings.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned for the efficient operation of the agency or program with any duties assigned
Requirements:
  • Master’s Degree in psychology, social work, or other related mental health fields. Licensed LPC, LMFT, or LCSW or under supervision for licensure in the state of Oklahoma.
  • Strong understanding of infant/child development and best practice interventions for trauma, child abuse/neglect, infant/ early childhood mental health, reflective practice, and relationship-based treatment approaches. Displays a good understanding of vicarious trauma and incorporates self-care strategies to manage exposure to challenging clients, systems, and difficult, traumatic stories.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Strong computer, (PowerPoint, excel, word, google forms, zoom/telehealth) organization, and assessment skills.
  • Minimum 1-year experience facilitating groups and/or conducting professional presentations/training.
  • Ability to assess and intervene within complex family and community systems. Must exercise good judgment under stress, emotional stability, tact, reliability, patience, creativity, and flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Ability to coordinate, collaborate and communicate effectively across relationships and systems within PCCT, with other professionals, organizations, community partners, volunteers, etc.
  • A non-judgmental interpersonal approach that reflects cultural sensitivity to the unique and diverse experiences of families served.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Oklahoma Association for Infant Mental Health Endorsement at the Mental Health Specialist or Clinical-Mentor level.
  • Trained in best practice Reflective Supervision/Consultation model (RIOS, CE-CERT, etc. )
  • Licensed mental health provider.
  • Trauma-Informed Training (TF-CBT, CPP, START, PCIT training, etc.)
