Responsibilities:
To support HEB Partners, Customers, and third-party stakeholders, our Risk Solutions Team ensures issuance and administration of corporate insurance, self-insurance, accounting budgets, and safety and risk management training, policies, and programs.

As an Ergonomic Specialist you'll be assigned to a regional area, supporting corporate objectives related to cost reduction and containment in safety and injury through human factors engineering. You'll provide technical assistance, consulting support, trend analysis, development / facilitation of training initiatives, and implement ergonomic prevention programs to ensure a safe place to work and MWT focused.

We are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Ergonomics, Human Factors, Occupational Health & Safety, Kinesiology, or a related field or comparable certifications.

What is the work?
Ergonomics Safety:
  • Applies specialized knowledge in ergonomic assessments, policies, procedures, training, & development in assigned facilities
  • Serves as subject matter expert on ergonomic prevention; provides specialized ergonomic training to Partners and Safety Team members
  • Communicates / collaborates with Facility, Regional, and Division leaders on total safety management in all areas of respective operations
  • Reviews / designs job tasks to effectively manage physical demands with sound ergonomic principles
  • Coordinates with on-site medical services to review injury exposures for ergonomic root causes, change management
  • Supports Risk Solutions Regional staff as needed in their daily safety responsibilities

Training / Mentoring:
  • Mentors / supports Regional Safety Coordinators and Safety Trainers in their daily work; specifically emphasizes knowledge related to human factors and ergonomics
  • Ergonomic / trains Management and Partners in policies, standards, guidelines, and safety initiatives, best practices, and safe behaviors
  • Coaches / trains Partners on information related to human factors and ergonomic exposures to minimize risk of body mechanics-related injuries

Investigating / Auditing:
  • Provides support to work injury investigations as needed
  • Participates in OSHA serious injury procedures, specifically for investigation and root cause analysis
  • Participates in industrial safety reviews of MWT facilities to ensure compliance of Ergonomic policies, standards, and guidelines

What is your background?
  • A related degree or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience
  • 3+ years of related experience (preferred)
  • Experience in retail or industrial safety
- Experience with H-E-B safety and injury prevention, work injury, liability, safety, and accident prevention programs or equivalent
  • Experience in occupational injury medical management (preferred)
  • Professional Ergonomics certification or equivalent(preferred)
  • Valid Texas driver's license

  • Strong project management skills
- Bi-lingual (English - Spanish) skills (preferred)
  • Ability to drive for results while maintaining excellent working relationships with facility-level leaders
  • Ability to deliver presentations to various audiences
  • Attention to detail
