Credit Underwriter
Banking 4, Role C

• Review incoming loan files; assess risk; and render a decision based on internal loan management policies, Investor (Fannie Mae) guidelines. Ability to consistently underwrite two-three (2-3) loan files per day.During the review process of each file, update changes to mortgage software system and process file through automated underwriter software provided by investor FNMA (Desktop Underwriter); review updated findings; prepare commitment letter. 60%

• Review incoming conditions needed to clear conditional approvals. Perform pre-funding quality control on cleared loan files. 20%

• Customer Service – Be responsive to phone calls and emails from loan officers and processors; review various loan scenarios with loan officers, when appropriate. Manage the underwriting pipeline. 15%

• Review policy and research investor guidelines; discussion and review with other Underwriters. 5%

Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree preferred
Two to three years of mortgage banking experience preferred
Two years underwriting experience preferred
Training in cooperative housing/financing desired
Proficient in Encompass systems preferred
Experience in loan underwriting and knowledge of FNMA guidelines
General computer skills, ability to communicate effectively both orally/written
Detail oriented with strong data analysis skills
Ability to work will with others and as a team
Ability to prioritize tasks and work under time deadlines
