OVERVIEW:
SALARY & BENEFITS:
The Benefits Specialist is responsible for the implementation and day-to-day administration of employee benefit programs, including health, dental, vision, life, disability, flexible spending, and health savings accounts (FSA, HSA), the Agency’s retirement plans and leaves of absence. This position provides guidance to the Agency’s leaders and employees in these areas while maintaining the Agency’s compliance with FMLA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA and other state and federal related regulations. As a knowledgeable resource, the Benefits Specialist provides recommendations for new programs and revisions to current programs and develops related policies and procedures, excellent customer service and support to the Agency’s leaders and employees, and analytical and technical support in the implementation and delivery of benefit programs. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Human Resources Senior Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Understanding of applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products, especially excel and displays strong math skills
- Experienced with HRIS software.
- Customer service oriented with professional presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
- Confident and a self-starter with a high level of integrity.
- Highly competent in the areas of building relationships, analytical thinking, adaptability, accuracy, planning and problem solving.
- Experience working in an HR setting and excellent computer skills required.
- Knowledge and experience in employment law and recruitment a plus.
Education/Experience Required:
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associate’s degree in human resources, business or a related field. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources or a related field is preferred.
- Five years progressive experience in benefits administration preferred.
