Pacific Plug & Liner, a sister company to Smith Gardens has an exciting opportunity for a HR Recruiting Assistant to join our team at our Watsonville, CA Site.
Pacific Plug & Liner was founded in October 1999 and is located on the beautiful California Central Coast with a climate ideal for plant and flower production. We have approximately 290,000 sq. ft. dedicated to growing young plants. Pacific Plug & Liner features a state-of-the-art production facility, ensuring consistent and superior quality.
JOB SUMMARY:
Assists site Human Resources with the full hiring process including screeningapplications, interviewing, and entering new hire paperwork. Provides administrative support and works on special projects for other departments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct recruitment efforts for all positions
- Assist with walk-in applicants and phone calls related to the application process
- Review applications for minimum requirements, work with supervisors to screen resumes, schedule interviews, conduct reference checks and extend job offers
- Creative recruiting techniques, utilizing various sources for all types of job applicants
- Assist with the new hire orientation process for new employees and enter all personnel information into the HRIS system
- Ability to handle employee records and materials in a secure and confidential manner and ensure the privacy and confidentiality of all employee information.
- Maintains confidential information and conversations with sensitivity
- Responsible for the integrity of employee personnel files and records
- Communicate effectively with employees and managers
- Answer calls from customers, employees, managers/supervisors, and other staff using exemplary customer service skills
- Assist employees with work-related problems, be a liaison and interpreter for meetings
- Coordinate and assist with planning and implementation of employee events and special meetings
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws
- Work collaboratively with safety coordinator
- Manage inventory of general office and safety supplies and place orders as needed
- Perform administrative tasks, special assignments and projects for all departments

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
- 1-3 years experience in human resources, preferably in agriculture or related industry.
- Solid experience with Microsoft Office suite and HRIS system
- Professional phone skills
- Must be bilingual in English and Spanish (proficient in speaking, reading, and writing)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Office environment, long hours sitting in front of a computer
- Work in both an office and warehouse environment
- Walking, reaching, lifting (20 pounds max) and climbing stairs
- Valid CA driving license and able to drive personal vehicle locally to post open jobs
