The Arc, Oneida-Lewis Chapters' Human Resources Team is seeking an HR Coordinator, Safety & Leave. In this role you will support in the administration of various HR and Safety functions by applying general knowledge of HR and Safety system processes and procedures. You will provide oversight for the administration of Workers Compensation program, administer all leaves of absence, assist in accident reduction programs, regulatory compliance, support safety training on safety and health topics and encourage active employee involvement in the safety process.

Responsibilities:

  • Liaison between Workers' Compensation Carrier, Physicians and employees.
  • Attend regular meetings with compensation carrier.
  • Compile facts and data regarding employee accident reports and filed cases.
  • Advise and/or assist departments in conducting investigation of employee accident reports, including interviewing of witnesses and procurement of relevant documentation.
  • In conjunction with the Accident Review Committee review accident reports to identify patterns of injury and to determine trends in injuries and proper safety procedures that may result in reduction of injuries; provide department with information that will aid in reducing accidents and improve safety.
  • Manage and track all requests for leaves of absence, including processing required paperwork and documentation.
  • Oversee and coordinate site safety visits.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with at least 1 year of experience in Human Resources or
  • Associates Degree with at least 2 years of experience in Human Resources or
  • High School Diploma with at least 5 years' experience in Human Resources.
  • Valid NY State Driver's license.
  • Working knowledge of Worker's Compensation rules and regulations.
  • Experience with review and filing of Worker's Compensation claims.
  • Working knowledge of rules and regulations associated with all other types of leaves of absence.

Ability to work independently and interact with a diverse workforce and work effectively as part of team. Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and customer service communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail as well as excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Strong work ethic and sense of integrity, trustworthiness and ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
