Our Housing Navigation program, a program within Catholic Charities, is expanding! We have immediate openings for Full Time Housing Navigation Specialists! These are project-based positions going through the end of 2023 and are based within the community, primarily helping clients experiencing homelessness secure housing.

These positions will be supported by existing staff who understand the needs, challenges, and urgency of the homeless community in Madison. Principal Accountabilities

Professional Operations

• Meets with both individuals and families at locations throughout the community. Establishes a supportive relationship with each client to assess the needs, preferences, and barriers to achieving housing. Develops a plan to work towards housing stability.
• Identifies and is sensitive and respectful to the diverse cultural needs of clients.
• Educates and supports clients in finding stable housing opportunities, assisting them to complete necessary housing paperwork.
• Refers clients to outside partnering organizations for assistance with employment and training, financial services, and other needed resources.
• Provides easily accessible housing information to clients, professionals, and the community at large through collaboration with the Website/Database Specialist for Housing Navigation Services.
• Maintains a thorough record keeping of resources, services, and partnering agencies. Maintains client information and data on the County's Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).
• Establishes collaborative efforts among public and private organizations to help foster the development of resources to address the needs of homeless individuals.
• Develops and maintain relationships with area landlords, and property managers, advocating for clients as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work preferred but not required.
• 1+ years of experience in homelessness and housing accessibility preferred.
• Competency to assess the needs of persons served and knowledge of the resources available to meet those needs.
• Knowledge of ethical standards and client rights in human services.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Ability to think creatively and problem solve.
