POSITION TITLE: Housekeeper

DERARTMENT: Environmental Services

REPORTS TO: Environmental Services Manager


The Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act requires employers in the state of Colorado to disclose the following information. Hourly (salary) minimum $15.00, hourly (salary) maximum $21.00. The base hourly (salary) range above represents the low and high end of the range for this position. Actual hourly (salary) rates may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to: experience, education, and training.

Pay is just one component to prospective employees’ compensation package. Compensation also includes a 10% PRN differential and may include shift differentials. In addition, Grand River Hospital District offers benefits including employee assistant programs and paid sick time.

JOB PURPOSE: To improve the health and wellbeing of our communities.


BASIC FUNCTION: Works to ensure offices, patient/guest rooms, and other specified areas are kept in a clean, disinfected, and orderly condition. Provides daily cleaning and replenishing of supplies to patient and resident rooms, bathrooms, offices, exam rooms and other areas of the District as assigned in accordance with standard cleaning procedures. Must wear proper PPE as needed and abide by GRHD safety standards. Maintains a daily facility care schedule and ensures a safe and sanitary environment. Operates commercial vacuums, sweepers, trash/utility carts. Moves equipment and furniture as needed to perform duties. At times, Housekeeping staff may be asked to operate company vehicles for the purpose of transport and delivery between locations. Cross trains with other members of the Environmental Services team and laundry team. Relies on instructions from the supervisor and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Must be able to communicate and work as a team. Performs a variety of tasks and other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Valid Driver’s License and clean DMV record preferred. If driving is required for the position a valid driver’s license and clean DMV record is required.


Experience: Minimum of one-year experience in a similar position preferred.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of sanitation procedures and commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures. Must be able to read, write, and make simple calculations. Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. Ability to read and comprehend departmental policies/procedures, SDS sheets, etc. Ability to work collaboratively with others as a member of a team. Ability to perform duties successfully in a fast-paced environment. Must be proficient with in six (6) months of hire in Microsoft Outlook, HealthStream, Kronos, and MSDS.


GENERAL COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS: Has knowledge of and adheres to all compliance regulations, policies and procedures. Completes annual compliance, privacy, and security training. Responsible for complying with all federal, state and local rules and regulations. Complies with the all Grand River Hospital District policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct and the Compliance and Ethics Program requirements. Reports any observation of fraud, waste, abuse, and/or privacy violations. Reports any conflict of interest or relationship immediately.


HEALTH INFORMATION PORTABILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY ACT (HIPAA): Ensures and adheres to strict confidentiality when handling patient information, according to the HIPAA Privacy Act and hospital policy and procedure regarding confidentiality. Complies with all hospital information security practices.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use the hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds, and be able to safely work in awkward positions such as on ladders. Must also be able to push and/or pull 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. May occasionally require assisting Nursing or Allied personnel in lifting/transferring patients in emergency situations.


WORKING CONDITIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee may be subject to daily exposure and risk of blood borne pathogens, bacteria, toxic substances, body fluids, communicable diseases, equipment noise and occasionally the combative patient. Other conditions may exist which are common to the hospital patient floor environment and a clinical health care setting.
