About the Company:

The Inn at Schofield is a small hotel with 192 guest rooms located on Schofield Barracks Army Base in Wahiawa. The Inn was established to provide temporary lodging for soldiers and their families during their PCS in or out.

  • Bus service is limited onto Schofield Base and requires an approved base pass.
  • All guests without current base access must check-in at Lyman Gate for vehicle inspection and an approved day pass.

CURRENTLY, DUE TO HEALTH AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS, TEMPORARY DAY BASE PASSES ARE ONLY GIVEN TO INTERVIEWEES AND EMPLOYEES. IF YOU ARE OFFERED AN INTERVIEW YOU MUST BE ABLE TO COME ON LOCATION ON YOUR OWN. IF SOMEONE IS DRIVING YOU, THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET ON BASE.

Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Location: Schofield Barracks, Wahiawa
Supervisor(s): Foreman, Housekeeping and Maintenance Manager

Position Summary:
Primary responsibility is to perform general maintenance functions at the hotel and other offsite properties as requested. Perform general maintenance and repair of building structures and associated mechanical, electrical, plumbing, sanitary systems, and painting. Ensure that all service is performed safely and results in favorable hotel guest feedback.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Respond to service calls on hotel property.
  • Provide maintenance and rehabilitation of hotel property. Duties include, but are not limited to minor electrical maintenance, HVAC maintenance, repairs of appliances such as microwaves and small refrigerators, plumbing, flooring installations, etc.
  • On-call emergency repairs and complete repairs as directed by immediate supervisor or other organization management representatives.
  • Load and unload property vehicles; move supplies and materials to proper location by flatbeds; stack materials for storage or binning; collect, reuse, and store all salvageable materials.
  • Transport equipment, furnishings and appliances to other rental units when needed.
  • Remove floor tile, sheet vinyl, ceramic floor tile and plywood. Remove damaged drywall.
  • Complete and submit all required paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
  • When required, update work order status including time, materials, and notes in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Keep supervisor well-informed of activities, results of efforts, problems identified/potential problems, etc.; recommends corrective actions to supervisor.
  • Work cooperatively and conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times when in contact with guests, other staff members, subcontractors, and the rest of the general public.
  • Demonstrate good verbal, written and listening communication skills as measured by accuracy, completeness and timeliness of work.
  • Wear issued uniform shirts, include proper footwear, at all times during work hours.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, workshops and seminars as position requires.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Maintenance Manager.

Job Requirements:

  • Must demonstrate competency in at least one of the seven required trades:
  • Electrical
  • Plumbing
  • HVAC
  • Appliance Repair and/or Maintenance
  • Carpentry
  • Painting
  • Flooring
  • Ability to work effectively and positively with team members, military families, and individuals at all levels of different organizations.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.
  • Able to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to use sound judgment to make decisions and problem solve.
  • Ability to adapt successfully to changing situations and environments.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and tasks in timely manners.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to obtain base pass to access military installation.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Vocational College education or Certification in one or more trades preferred.
