Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Driver's License and Current Auto Insurance
- Ability to successfully pass pre-employment driver record, criminal, adult and child abuse background check/review required
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Volunteer functions encompass those tasks, duties, and responsibilities that are critical and fundamental to the volunteer position and comprise the means of accomplishing the job's purpose and objectives.
- Assists team with patient care in accordance with the plan of care.
- Provides needed services to patients/families and as outlined in the Hospice Volunteer Handbook (e.g. companionship, shopping, respite, etc.)
- Makes a time commitment of 2-4 hours each week as schedule permits.
- Provides notification when a substitute is needed.
- Uses listening skills effectively to provide emotional support to the patient/family.
- Reports and/or records any changes in the patient's condition or environment to the Hospice Volunteer Services Coordinator, case manager, or other appropriate team member.
- Provides accurate, timely, and objective documentation of volunteer activity.
- Submits annual mandatory paper to maintain active status as a volunteer.
- Attends scheduled rehearsals and assigned bed-side or community presentations (if applicable)
- Is able to demonstrate competency requirements and attends educational in-services and workshops as schedule permits.
- Accountable for and expected to integrate VNAHSR's HEALTH Matters values into the execution of the essential functions of their volunteer work.
