Home Visitor* - Bilingual Spanish Required, Mixteco Preferred @ Federal Programs (District Office)- 8.0 hours/day


Job Description

  • Serves as liaison between all OSD schools and homes, supporting parent involvement, conducting parent training sessions, and assisting with school related questions.
  • Support planning and implementing building and district parent outreach nights and other Parent Involvement Meetings (Migrant, PAC, Literacy and Math Nights, Title I Parent Conference, Parent Outreach Nights, etc.).
  • Assists in transportation of students to and from school or medical appointments or social services (Needs Type II Driver’s License).
  • Work flexible hours which coincide with hours when parents are at home.
  • Helps plan and implement monthly parent outreach nights.
  • Assists in the development strategies to involve parents in the affairs of the school and community.
  • Facilitates communication between parents and the school.
  • Gathers information from home visits that will be useful in determining how best to meet the needs of the student and parent relative to improving attendance and making the school experience more meaningful.
  • Assists administration/counselors with attendance issues.
  • Conduct parent-training sessions as assigned.
  • Interacts with district personnel, community-based agencies and organized school programs.
  • Maintains consistent communications with district home visitor and Federal Program Director.
  • Participates in appropriate district/staff development.
  • Translate written communications from English to Spanish as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by Federal Programs Director and Building Administrators.


Minimum Qualifications

  • High School graduate, or GED.
  • Knowledgeable about the community and local resources.
  • Dependable, trustworthy, experience working with children and adults, good time manager, initiative.
  • Good communication skills (with parents and OSD staff)
  • Adaptability to learn new computer programs and manage data within those programs.
  • Physically able to occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty (20) pounds.
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, stoop, bend, reach, kneel, crawl, and grasp as required to successfully perform all duties and requirements.
  • Ability to focus (adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus), clear vision at twenty (20) inches or less, and clear vision at twenty (20) feet or more.
    • Must pass Spanish proficiency test administered by OSD (both oral & written)
  • In accordance with Governor Proclamation 21.14-1 (Vaccination Requirement)

Salary: Per PSE CBA - Schedule A

Hours: Per Position Listed Above

Contracted Days: 179 work days & 7 holidays (189 total contracted days)
