  • Position Summary
      Under general supervision analyzes and prepares computerized deficiencies for inpatient and outpatient records in compliance with departmental and regulatory guidelines. Ensures all actions taken in carrying out responsibilities support patient centered care.
  • Position Responsibilities

      Unit Specific Position Responsibilities
      • Protects the security of medical records to ensure that confidentiality is maintained. Follow all HIPAA and privacy regulations.
      • Analyzes inpatient and outpatient paper and electronic medical records using departmental and MGMC guidelines. Reviews records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulations.
      • Retrieves/obtains paper documents from units for scanning according to current policies
      • Scans and indexes medical record documents in accordance with current naming policies and procedures.
      • Meets timeliness guidelines regarding scanning and analysis to ensure healthcare records are available for continuing patient care.
      • Assists with scanned document quality reviews as requested
      • Assists Release of Information Specialist as needed
      • Accesses Transcription systems upon request to locate dictated but not transcribed notes to assist care givers
      • Answers telephone, greet customers and provide customer service and complete other job functions as assigned.
      • Know and follow work schedule, request PTO within time requirements while ensuring that staff coverage is adequate. Responsible for keeping time and attendance application up to date and accurate.
      • Assists Case Management and Quality Department with tasks related to communication and documentation requests in support of services provided by MGMC medical staff.
  • Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
      Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education):
      Organizational Requirements:
      • Maintain stroke education per regulatory requirements.

      Preferred Qualifications:
      • Health Information Management (HIM) experience.
      • Highschool diploma or GED

      Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
      • Knowledge of administrative and clerical duties such as answering telephones and data entry.
      • Ability to operate office equipment such as computer, copier, scanner, fax machine, microfilm reader/printer, calculator and adding machine.
      • High level of interpersonal skills in order to handle sensitive and confidential information.
      • Ability to work independently.
      • Excellent customer service and time management skills.
      • Ability to read and interpret documents.
      • Skill in using Microsoft Outlook and other Microsoft related programs such as Word, Excel and Power Point.
