General Description
Performs highly advanced and managerial auditing work. Work involves conducting, planning, scheduling, coordinating, and reviewing audits and reporting results, and providing guidance and assistance in governmental auditing. Plans, assigns, and/or supervises the work of others. Works under minimal direction with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Examples of Work Performed
Trains and supervises the internal audit staff
Coordinates the assignment of audits and audit requests
Develops and evaluates audit programs; develops audit objectives and procedures and deliverables
Reviews working papers and audit reports prepared by the auditing staff for substance, correct methodology, accuracy, completeness, and adequacy
Oversees the preparation of audit reports, including the preparation of outlines, specification of internal reviews, preparation of draft reports, reviews of the drafts with clients, preparation of the final reports incorporating client comments as appropriate, and submission of the final reports for review
Recommends and advises management regarding changes in business processes, information systems, and accounting or management procedures
Reviews and identifies changes in professional standards, pronouncements, and statutory audit requirements, and notifies management and audit staff
Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed and to be determined and assigned as needed
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Accounting
Five or more years of professional auditing experience with at least one year managing audit engagements
Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Information Systems Auditor, or Certified Management Auditor is a plus
Certificates, Licenses, Registration:
Employee must have proof of a current valid Texas Motor Vehicle Operator’s License
Must be able to be insured by County Insurance carrier
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Skill in the use of personal computer and related office equipment
Skill in the use of standard software applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
Skill in the use of 10-key calculator by touch
Ability to process and assimilate large amounts of reading materials
Ability to interpret and apply state statutes rules, regulations, polices, and procedures
Ability to trace transactions to original document for verification purposes
Ability to gather, analyze, evaluate, and accurately summarize relevant audit information
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $59,585.00 - $64,352.00 per year
