Heavy Equipment Mechanic

G.W. Tatro is looking for a qualified, tested heavy equipment mechanic to join our team! We are offering full-time, year-round work at our main office, with travel to our varied construction sites.

Heavy Equipment Mechanic's Duties and responsibilities

Maintain, overhaul, repair a variety of heavy construction equipment, as well as light and heavy-duty trucks. Some small engine work (pumps, saws) will also be a part of this job.
This job will also require traveling to job sites for routine field maintenance and emergency repairs.

During the winter months, this technician will work with a crew to overhaul the equipment fleet--including repairs, rebuilds, and detailing—to prepare pieces for the spring construction season.

Diesel mechanic experience required, as well as knowledge of Caterpillar equipment.

Heavy Equipment Operator Qualifications

• Positive, team-oriented attitude
• Patience and awareness of surroundings
• Several years' experience performing heavy equipment and mechanical repairs

• Experience or schooling in diesel mechanic work
• Welding experience or familiarity is a plus
• Mastery of CAT controls
• Ability to work cooperatively with others
• Aptitude in people skills- both with coworkers and the public
• Driver’s license
• Ability to work outside for long hours
