Position Overview

Kilgore Companies, a Summit Material company, is looking for Heavy Diesel Mechanics. This position is responsible for maintenance and servicing of fleet vehicles with or without direction from the Maintenance Supervisor or Head Mechanic. This position is based in Silverthorne, CO but company will provide a company vehicle to get to and from work!

Compensation: $30/hour - $38/hour depending on experience. $1,500 tool reimbursement after 90 days. Will also provide company vehicle!

Position Responsibilities & Performance Objectives
The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Essential Functions

  • Performing mechanical and general appearance reconditioning of equipment.
  • Identifying and determining parts required for repair of disassembled units.
  • Performing all levels of preventive maintenance services.
  • Identifying repairs and documenting them on repair orders.
  • Maintaining work area appearance and safety.
  • Road testing vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly.
  • Using hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, jacks, and hoists.
  • Performing routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery
  • Adjusting and replacing brakes, tightening bolts and screws, and reassembling equipment.
  • Inspecting, testing, and listening to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, pressure gauges, as well as multi-meters.
  • Examining and adjusting protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices.
  • Inspecting and verifying dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications.
  • Specializing in repairing and troubleshooting of major components such as engines, transmissions, and differentials. This includes replacing complete assemblies, turbochargers, fuel system components, etc.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous welding experience.
  • Previous experience as a mechanic.
