Position Title: DHDSPHealth Informatics Analyst

Summary

The Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention, Applied Research and Evaluation Branch (AREB) requires health informatics, data processing and visualization contractor services to support the 1) program evaluation objectives of DHDSP’s notice of funding opportunities (NOFOs) and cooperative agreements, 2) economics research agenda and 3) policy research.

The Health Informatics Analyst must have the ability to analyze a wide variety of program, clinical and public health data, identify and resolve data discrepancies, identify, and use internal and external data sources, with proficient knowledge of data visualization, machine learning/Artificial Intelligence, statistical methods, data science tools, statistical programming languages and tools for large datasets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop performance measure data quality assurance trackers for all 9 Division supported NOFO evaluations.
  • Support Community Health Workers for COVID Response and Resilient Communities (CCR) program and evaluation with analysis and dissemination of products for semi-annual performance measure data to provide to Center leadership, Congress, and partners. Includes creating a process that can be maintained throughout the subsequent reporting periods.
  • Develop online and informatics-related components of the CVD Health Equity Indicators Toolkit.
  • Report data (including evaluation data, policy, and economic cross-sectional and longitudinal data) visually in a clear, innovative, and meaningful manner that increases uptake, engagement, and use by recipients, public health partners, and leadership (e.g., dashboards, widgets, surveillance maps, etc.).
  • Perform ongoing data science work that requires extraction and preparation of data and related knowledge from diverse public health programs and evaluations at the local, state, and national levels. Shall entail structured and unstructured approaches for purposes including analyses; improved understanding and communication; development/visualization of new concepts, and/or processes that add value to public health delivery and the decision-making process.
  • Assists in preparing reports that include discussion of substantive issues related to data science methodology, assessment of the adequacy and quality of data used in the analyses, and explanation of the methods, results, and relevance to cardiovascular disease prevention and management.
  • Develops helpful data processing tools for CDC recipients and staff to better utilize performance measure, evaluation, policy, and economics data.
  • Supports the preparation of scientific articles, technical reports/briefs, and data files for publication or other public dissemination. Produces static and interactive data visualizations to communicate findings to internal and external audiences.
  • Prepares materials for presentations to other scientific staff and to federal, state, and local public health partners.
  • Client may require on-site meeting attendance.

Education and/or Experience

  • Possess a minimum of a master’s degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Sociology or Applied Mathematics. Completion of a PhD or work towards a PhD in any of these areas would also be very desirable.
  • At least two years of documented experience working in public health or health sciences research.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • 2 years experience working with the CDC, federal or related public health entities.
  • 3 years specific work or training experience related to heart disease and stroke prevention, or management of chronic conditions is preferred.

Salary commensurate with experience.
