POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. You will be part of starting people off in their wellness journey, assisting those in need of finding a chronic disease program to help them, sending children off to day camp for their very first time-and so much more.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Uphold the Mission of the YMCA at all times
- Provide courteous, prompt and sincere attention to members, guests, participants and staff.
- Provide Healthy Living Initiatives such as Smart Start Trainings, YFF, Orientations, and other member engagements initiatives.
- Ensure a safe environment by securing areas not in use, being aware of weather conditions, monitoring sidewalk conditions and the activities of members and guests. Ensure that the rules and policies of the Family YMCA of BHC are being followed and enforced when necessary to provide a safe, secure environment
- Ensure that the facility is being monitored constantly – making rounds into every part of the facility on a 15 minute basis, and assist members that are in need of help. Ensure the building is properly closed and locked at the end of the day
- Responsible for member engagement and follow-up communication.
- Ensure facilities are picked up, safe and free from clutter.
- Give exceptional tours when necessary – share the features of the YMCA and its offerings
- Build and maintain effective communication lines with staff and members.
- Serve as a role model for policies and guidelines in the wellness center.
- Maintain a safe, clean and functional wellness center.
- Clean and disinfect the facility including vigilance around high touch items
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess excellent written and oral communications skills
- Be certified in CPR First Aid within 3 months of hire
- SMART START Training within 2 weeks of hire
- The ability to assist other YMCA staff and handle a variety of tasks in an organized manner
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- Be self-motivated, able to make decisions and work independently, maintain confidentiality and demonstrate leadership skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to use a computer and/or smart device.
- Sit, reach, move around the environment, lift up to 10 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
