The Head Veterinary Technician oversees our team of Veterinary Technicians and Assistants. This position has administrative and supervisory tasks in addition to standard veterinary technician duties. The Head Vet Tech, first and foremost, needs to have strong interpersonal relationship skills to manage their teams. They should also be highly organized and self-starting. The person suited for this position should be able to multi-task and quickly pivot from one job function to another. In addition to their organizational duties, the Head Vet Tech should be accomplished in the care and treatment of animals in the facility.

Requirements

The Ideal Candidate:

• Works well in a team environment, and maintains a positive attitude
• Demonstrates the desire to help elevate teammates, and recognize others’ accomplishments.
• Supervisory skills, including performance management, feedback, and communications
• Has experience with conflict resolution that has yielded positive results.
• Is responsive to teammates and the management team.
• High level of competence in the complete range of veterinary technician skills
• Has at least 3-5 years of experience working in the Veterinary field
• Attention to detail is a strength

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Supervise Veterinary Technicians and Assistants
• Schedule staff
• Train new staff
• Liaison with other department supervisors and management
• Conducts department meetings
• Champion and enforce hospital policies and procedures
• Supervise medication calculations and administration
• Perform and train technical skills
• Perform at least 8 hours of relevant continuing education annually.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
