Hello everyone,

I own a handyman business and I’m looking for a helper who wants to learn the trade and grow their skills and responsibility in this position.

You must be well-organized, a fast learner, good with using tools, and have a keen eye for detail.
Physical strength as well as stamina are valued greatly in this job.
You must have a vehicle and basic tools.

We mainly work at jobsites in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, and Chesapeake. Occasionally we will take larger jobs in Hampton or Suffolk. You will need to show up at different job sites each day.

Examples of jobs we do:

• Build sheds
• Run plumbing for appliances
• Drywall
• Built in bookshelves
• Balcony railings
• Screened porches
• Crown molding installation
• Cabinet installation

Responsibilities

• Clean job sites by sweeping, dusting etc.
• Perform maintenance and repairs
• Paint and fill gaps or crevices (on walls, sidewalks etc.)
• Perform installation and carpentry
• Repair equipment or appliances
• Assist with electrical, plumbing or HVAC work
• Undertake duties as assigned or emergency tasks (e.g. shoveling snow)
• Identify and report the need for major repairs

Requirements

• Proven experience in a similar profession
• Experience with hardware tools and electrical equipment
• Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing or HVAC systems
• Basic math skills
• Good communication ability
• Well-organized and apt in problem-solving
• Attention to detail
