Golf Course Superintendent
Summary/Objective
The Greenskeeper performs routine manual labor involved in golf course maintenance; does semi-skilled grounds construction and maintenance work; operates small hand-powered equipment; and occasionally operates larger maintenance equipment such as mowers.
Essential Functions
- Performs daily set up procedures such as; setting tee markers and cups on greens daily, maintains ball washers, remove debris, sand tee & fairway divots, maintains flower beds, etc.
- Operates self-propelled machinery such as; bunker rakes, triplex mowers, deck mowers, aerators, sod cutters, and others as directed.
- Cleans and properly stores equipment after each use.
- Under direct supervision of a certified applicator, sprays chemicals using hand operated sprayers.
- Demonstrates the willingness and ability to retain instructions pertaining to the use of equipment, tools, and materials used in golf course construction, maintenance and landscape.

Work Environment
This employee operates outdoors most of the working hours, on the golf course; some time is also spent working at the golf course maintenance facility.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This position requires the ability to work Monday through Friday 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM and some afternoon and weekend overtime as needed.
Required Education and Experience
1. Ability to follow detailed instructions.
- Must be able to work outside in all weather temperatures.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Hazmat safety experience and formal training.
- Maintenance experience.
