Description:

OUR ORGANIZATION

Working from a sincere interest in issues of social justice, William Boyce Thompson founded the Boyce Thompson Institute (BTI) in 1924, believing that basic plant research could lead to real societal benefit. Over the almost 100 years since its founding, BTI has evolved to become a premier life sciences research institution, with scientists conducting investigations into fundamental plant and life sciences research with the goals of increasing food security, improving environmental sustainability in agriculture and making basic discoveries that will enhance human health. BTI, located in Ithaca, New York on the Cornell University campus, employs 150 staff, with scientists from over 40 countries around the world, and has twice been named as one of the Best Companies in New York State.

ABOUT THIS POSITION

BTI is seeking an energetic self-starter, who thrives in a fast-paced environment, to join the research administration team in the management of pre-award, post award, and close out duties associated with its robust sponsored award portfolio. The Grants Manager is responsible for working collaboratively with researchers and operational support staff to identify funding opportunities and develop proposals that support BTI’s research mission, while managing existing awards for sponsor compliance. The majority of BTI’s sponsored funding comes from the federal government in support of scientific research objectives. The successful candidate will be expected to have a solid understanding of federally funded grants management, including Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards (2 CFR Part 200).

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated professional with strong writing, project management and interpersonal skills who wishes to make an impact in a non-profit organization focused on improving food crops, demystifying plant and human immune systems, and revealing alternative, sustainable sources of energy.
