As a member of the Prepared Foods/Deli team, you have the opportunity to grow your food knowledge in a fast paced, elevated guest experience environment. As a Prepared Foods Associate, you are the first impression guests have when entering the Citarella store. A keen eye for detail, professionalism and teamwork, are just some of the traits that will allow you to succeed in this role. You’ll learn about our prepared foods cooking procedures, how to safely use a deli slicer, understand the difference between goat milk and cow milk cheeses, even quickly break down a whole roasted chicken (pro tip: we use sheers). These are just a few of the opportunities you’ll cultivate in this guest facing role, while upholding Citarella’s highest standards.

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Provide exceptional guest service through informed knowledge of your department’s products.
• Assists in the rotation, restocking, shelf placement (i.e. facing) of product displays.
• Prepare/cook/roast/bake a variety of food products (i.e. rotisserie chicken, turkey thighs, duck and ribs, baguettes).
• Safe and sanitary operation and cleaning of oven and deli slicer. Awareness of and mainting of a clean work environment (cutting boards, counter(s), scales, knives, etc.).
• Temperature time keeping and inventory recording of products to determine par needs for ordering /replenishment.
• Effective and positive communication with peers and management.
• Always maintain professionalism and treat everyone with respect and courtesy.

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 months to 1 year with food handling, guest service and sales experience.
• Ability to act with a sense of urgency and remain productive in a fast-paced environment.
• Problem solving skills a plus.
• Empowered team player willing to assist fellow associates.
• The associate is occasionally required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 20 – 50 pounds
