GIS Analyst (Berkeley or Arcata, CA or Portland, OR)

Stillwater Sciences seeks a GIS Analyst to serve as a member of our GIS team and provide support to river restoration and watershed analysis projects throughout the western U.S. This position will support GIS needs across the company and perform GIS administration tasks.

The GIS Analyst will:

  • Perform GIS spatial analysis, mapping & figure production tasks
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control of geospatial data
  • Create and maintain metadata documentation
  • Support transition to ArcGIS Enterprise and migration to ArcGIS Pro
  • Develop and maintain webmaps using ArcGIS Portal/Online
  • Automate spatial tasks in support of resource specialists
  • Work as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team of biologists, geomorphologists, and other professional staff
  • Juggle multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines in a timely manner

Qualified applicants should possess:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, Geography or related degree, and two to four years of work experience, preferably in a consulting environment. Knowledge of other physical or biological sciences preferable
  • Experience using ArcGIS Enterprise with understanding of basic GIS administration; experience with SQL a plus
  • Experience in web mapping and programming (Python, Javascript and ESRI Javascript API, CSS, HTML5). Experience with website maintenance and cloud hosting
  • Experience with ESRI's ArcGIS Desktop 10.8 / ArcGIS Pro 3.0, QGIS, and a solid understanding of spatial data manipulation and formats including Arcpy
  • Experience in Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst, LiDAR processing, and watershed and hydrologic modeling
  • Experience with electronic data collection and processing (ArcGIS Collector, Trimble Pathfinder Office, Terrasync, QField)
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D a plus
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a high standard of quality in cartographic representation and metadata maintenance. Knowledge of basic principles of graphic design
  • Eagerness to take on GIS administration duties and act as technological support
  • Ability to manage multiple and conflicting deadlines, excellent time management skills, strong intrapersonal skills, and a willingness to be flexible in approaches to completing tasks
  • Strong work ethic, detail-orientation, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to work hours outside of standard office hours to meet project needs

  • Stillwater Sciences provides a competitive compensation package including a 401(k) plan, ESOP, and full health and dental care.
  • $58,000-76,000; Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • Hybrid schedule with minimum of 24 hours/3 days a week in the office.

Pay: $58,000.00 - $76,000.00 per year
