The Grand Hotel is a 3-diamond hotel that has 121 standard and deluxe guest rooms and is located only one mile from the south entrance of the Grand Canyon.
Our Maintenance department looking for a responsible person(s) to perform general maintenance and repair activities associated with the operation Grand Hotel facilities. The position is a full-time seasonal position.
Responsibilities:
- Fully understand and support Xanterra Mission Statement and Core Values.
- Represent the company in a positive manner and minimize the impact of maintenance activities on staff or our guests.
- Responsible for general cleaning and light maintenance within company housing. This includes indoor and outdoor activities including but not limited to, mopping, sweeping, housing room cleaning for next occupant, bathroom cleaning, shoveling snow, etc. As well as plunging toilets, changing light bulbs, changing air filters, smoke detector checks and battery replacements, etc.
- Assist in the completion of general and preventative maintenance activities, with The Grand Hotel and Trading Post maintenance crew. This includes indoor and outdoor activities.
- Perform basic record keeping duties and perform basic equipment data collection and recording functions.
- Perform basic equipment repair, such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC maintenance, mechanical, painting etc.
- Perform basic preventive maintenance duties such as filter changing, motor/pump maintenance, evaporative cooler maintenance, ice machine maintenance, etc. as it applies to the preventive maintenance program.
- Perform outside custodial duties such as snow and ice removal from sidewalks and or walkways, mowing lawns, weeding flower beds, and clearing grasses to ensure a clean and healthy environment. Deliver supplies and materials to various locations and departments within the company; Transport guests and luggage or employees as required.
- Adhere to all safety, risk management and environmental policies and procedures.
- Work various shifts as required in a department that operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Shift changes can occur based on the demands of the service and special assignments or projects that arise.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License and be able to obtain an Arizona drivers’ license within 90-days of onboarding, as well comply with the Xanterra/GCR Company Vehicle Policy.
- Minimum one year experience in general maintenance or housekeeping/residential cleaning.

- Verbal comprehension (Understand oral and written communications, follow detailed directions)
- Communication skills (provide clear instructions/directions)
- Reasoning skills (problem solving and troubleshooting skills)
Employment Conditions:
- Work safely to prevent on the job accidents and injuries.
- Work in all inclement weather conditions.
- Work safely to ensure company equipment is secure.·
- Wear protective equipment as required by the job duties.
- Work hours may include a nonstandard workweek, overtime, and various shift work as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly standing, walking, balancing, climbing, twisting, eye/hand coordination, manual dexterity, handling, wrist motion, bending/ stooping, ascending and descending ladder.
- Trunk Strength-The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without giving our or fatiguing.

- Static Strength-The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry objects.
- Constant carrying, bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, and pulling items weighing up to 10lbs.
- Frequently carrying, bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, and pulling items weighing up to 25lbs.
- Occasionally carrying, bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, and pulling items weighing up to 100lbs.
- Constantly listening, hearing, seeing, and speaking.
- Will be required to stand and walk for long periods of time on cement floors and to occasionally walk on uneven surfaces.
