Sound Dampeners responsibilities include installing all types of sound dampening materials including but not limited to stud shooting, gluing and placing tiles, gluing anti-sweat and gluing hardboard.
- Sound Dampeners also work closely with painters and will be required to perform painting duties as required
- Duties include but are not limited to surface preparation and painting functions. Surface preparation involves solvent washing, sanding and/or grit blasting. Painting with water based enamel and epoxy-polyamide coatings is accomplished by brush, roller, airless spray and other specialized equipment
- Required to utilize a tape measure and document paint thicknesses in order to maintain a high level of quality
- Sound Dampeners and Painters also regularly use various shop equipment including table saws, drill presses, routers, sandblast equipment and air and electric hand held tools
This position is located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI.
Required:
- Must be able to take measurements with tape measure
- Must be available to work all shifts
- Must be available to work at heights, confined spaces and extreme temperature conditions as required
- Applicant will be required to work in a collaborative and team environment and meet organizational goals

Must possess basic mathematical, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Individuals are required to possess their own basic hand tools
- Ability to work with basic hand and power tools
Preferred:
- Sound dampening or sound proofing experience
- Previous experience working in paint or construction industry or a manufacturing environment or related trade experience or training
- Carpentry, drywall installation or auto body experience
- Experience applying coatings via brush, roller, conventional sprayers & airless sprayers
- High school diploma/GED preferred
- Additional preference given for Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs
- Knowledge of use of Graco or equivalent painting tools & equipment helpful
- Ability to read blueprints
- Military/Navy experience
- Previous military shipbuilding experience
