General laborer role with a shingle manufacturing plant in Kankakee, IL. This is a full-time position with room to grow. All associates start on the clean-up crew and will have the chance to move to machine operator roles only after proving attendance, motivation, attitude and skill. Hire on is not guaranteed.

This role is physical and requires the ability to lift 75+lbs repeatedly throughout the shift. This is a hot work environment with considerable dust and dirt.

Responsibilities:

Sweeping and shoveling granules, scraping/removing asphalt and oils from equipment. Palletizing, wrapping bundles of shingles, wrapping pallets of shingles, and other assigned tasks.

Requirements:

Understand and follow safety policies at all times

Ability to physically complete assigned tasks including lifting, bending, twisting, stairs, and working in an environment that is hot and dusty

Work in a team, without direct supervision

Ability to adapt to a changing work environment/set of tasks

Sweep walkways with brooms
Shovel wet or dry granule/ mud material into garbage hoppers
Vacuum pile of debris granule material with the big vacuum
Forklift Certified Temps will dump garbage dumpster constantly throughout the day
Wipe down signs with cleaning spray
Paint brush areas of machine when needed
Scrap pallet bundles when needed into a scrap hopper
Rework full good pallets by removing bad bundles and re-stacking them properly
Organized tools and equipment in proper locations
Power wash areas as needed
Scrub and mop floors as needed
Chisel asphalt with air hammers when needed
Install and or change signs as needed with a drill
Use wrenches to remove covers as needed to clean areas after
following LOTO
Scrap and brush to clean areas as needed
must move to the location of the stoppage, and must assist as
necessary
Inspect and maintain 5s boards full
Maintain all 5s boards organized
Return all tools used to proper 5s locations
Hand pile 75 lbs bundles at side conveyor when the palletizer jams when needed
Assist in cleaning of equipment and rolls when needed
Maintain work areas and equipment clean and free of debris and
obstructions
Remove all debris from machinery and sweep area periodically
throughout shift. All debris and sweepings to be placed in
designated disposal containers.
Store all tools, operating supplies in the correct location
Spills must be cleaned up, and material disposed of
appropriately.
Strip plastic wrappers from product when needed

Schedule:
Monday to Saturday 6a-2:00p (Saturdays are required)

Monday to Saturday 2p-10:00p (Saturdays are required)

Sunday to Thursday 10p-6:00a (Fridays are required)

**Shifts are subject to change based on production requirements, candidates should be prepared to work another schedule when required
