Pacific Plug & Liner, a sister company to Smith Gardens, has an exciting opportunity for a General Laborer to join our team at our Watsonville, CA Site.

Pacific Plug & Liner was founded in October 1999 and is located on the beautiful California Central Coast with a climate ideal for plant and flower production. We have approximately 290,000 sq. ft. dedicated to growing young plants. Pacific Plug & Liner features a state-of-the-art production facility, ensuring consistent and superior quality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Some duties include general labor:

• Sticking, handling, and planting of small plant cuttings, divisions, lab cultures, and young plants in a fast environment
• Replacing plants that do not grow with a good plant (Patching tray)
• Clean plants in preparation for shipping
• Hand pinch plant tips to encourage the plant to form branches
• Use of small hand tools to perform the work
• Ability to use legs to go over rails
• May work in other departments as necessary, including (but not limited to) seeding, soil, sticking, trimming, plant care, weeding, etc.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Schedules: Employee may be required to work longer hours during peak season, weekends, and holidays

Work Environment: Characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job:

• Working near moving tables or equipment in constant motions and potentially exposed to the risk of electrical shock
• Maintain awareness of changing floors surface conditions. Step carefully to avoid slips and falls
• Noise level usually moderate
• 34-90 degree temperature-controlled environment that can be humid with alternate temperatures from cold to very warm throughout the day as well as inclement weather outdoors. (Must be prepared for these scenarios)

• Continuously required to stand, walk, sit, use repetitive motion to hands, fingers, handle objects, tools or controls

• Pushing and pulling up to 75 pounds consistently with heavier weight necessary at times in an environment that is often hot
• Ability to physically go over greenhouse rails
