Rutland County Parent Child Center (RCPCC) is currently looking to hire a part-time high school teacher with experience in any subject area. You will have the opportunity to develop lesson plans, deliver subject material, and administer assessments. You will work hands-on with students in various environments, and be able to cater to students' individual learning styles. You should be able to deal with students from varying backgrounds, meet students where they are, create a relationship with students, and help them build and improve upon skills related to executive functioning, parenting, and employability. You must be able resolve in-class conflict, and respond well to criticism. Candidates need to be well-organized, flexible, and open and excited to teach in non-traditional teaching styles and in non-traditional classroom environments.

Responsibilities

• Developing unique lesson plans that match students interests and personal learning style, subject area, and grade, and ensuring all lessons align with curriculum objectives.

• Drawing up classroom rules and safety regulations and helping students to understand these rules and regulations.

• Be confident in using a range of teaching materials and methods to deliver content.

• Providing additional support and interventions for struggling students and extra resources to those who are ahead of the class.

• Celebrating students’ success, while also helping students to explore and learn.

• Preparing students for tests, exams, presentations, experiments, and other assessments.

• Making sure students learn and grow from their assignments, and understand the subject material they are working on.

• Providing feedback and reports to students and parents.

• Attending staff and parent meetings to provide helpful recommendations or voice concerns.

• Establishing rapport and professional relationships with students, staff, and parents.

• Ensuring that students have a directive and voice in their own education.

• Supervising students in class, during events, and on field trips.

• Monitoring students’ overall wellbeing and liaising with school counselors and other staff members when there are concerns or issues.

• Being available for students to offer resources, support, and advice if asked on any aspect of a students life.

• Attending ongoing learning initiatives like workshops, lectures, conferences, and other events where you are able to expand education networks.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in any subject area.

• A relevant license, certificate, or registration.

• Excellent time management, planning, and organizational skills.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Resilience and a positive attitude.

• The ability to stand for long periods of time.

• Superb interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.

• The ability to establish rapport and build professional relationships with adolescents.

• Ability to be comfortable around and maintain a safe environment with babies 6 months and under who may be in the classroom.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 per hour

• Monday to Friday - 9 am-2:30pm

Work Location: Classroom location as well as various outdoor areas including but not limited to a farm, hiking trails, and other outdoor areas.
