As a TeachStart Scholar Fellow, you can expect:

• Salary: $50,000 annual salary
• Benefits: Paid holidays and affordable health, vision & dental insurance
• Training, coaching and support: Get paid while you receive best-in-field training on what it takes to succeed as an educator.
• Grants to cover start-up fees: All new educators must p ay various start-up and permitting fees. We’ve got you covered, and pay you directly for those.
• Affordable teaching credential: If you are interested in pursuing a teaching credential, we offer a low-cost pathway, through scholarships and grants.

As a TeachStart Fellow, you will:

• Have guaranteed full-time employment with Scoot
• Gain experience a variety of schools to find the right fit

You will enjoy:

You should apply if you:

• Are ready to fulfill your purpose as a change agent in the classroom
• Can submit to and pass a background check and TB test
• Bachelor’s Degree with minimum 2.5 GPA
• Valid Substitute Permit or willing to obtain one with support from TeachStart

As a TeachStart Fellow, you will select one of the following pathways based on your current needs and long-term career goals:

• Scholar+ Pathway: Interested in pursuing a long-term teaching career? Hoping to earn your CA teaching credential? This two-year pathway will support you as you gain teaching experience and obtain a low-cost teacher credential. You will begin subbing full-time during your first year before transitioning into a teacher of record position during your second.
• Scholar Pathway: Interested in a full-time, salaried, benefits-eligible career as a substitute teacher? The Scholar pathway will offer you a fulfilling career as a sub in the classroom with ongoing professional development to continuously support your growth and increase your effectiveness in the classroom in addition to unlimited access to TeachStart’s Professional Learning Community.

Scoot Education is the creator of TeachStart, a training and employment opportunity to provide salaried pathways for prospective teachers (even those without any prior experience) to become licensed educators.
