Full Time Paramedic - Firefighter

The Village of Johnson Creek, a thriving and growing community known as the Crossroads of the Future due to their ideal location between Milwaukee and Madison along I-94 in Jefferson County, has an immediate opening for a career paramedic-firefighter in their long-standing and community-supported Fire & EMS Department and is establishing an eligibility list for future vacancies. This is a position that will add to our combination career/paid-on-premise roster as a full-time Paramedic/Firefighter as our community and department grows. There is great potential for professional growth as Johnson Creek is one of the fastest growing communities in Jefferson County.

Responsibilities include responding to calls for service, fire suppression activities, rescue, and property preservation; provides pre-hospital EMS care to patients; preforms with limited supervision through Fire Department Standard Operating Guidelines and established protocols and directives; maintains a state of readiness of facilities and equipment by scheduled inspections, cleaning, testing, and maintenance; promotes health and safety of the department and community through education; performs related work as required, including administrative and operational tasks to meet department goals/mission.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; possess a valid WI driver’s license; be insurable to operate Fire Department vehicles and equipment; ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions; ability to maintain a favorable working relationship with co-workers, Fire Department officials, the officials of other jurisdictions, the community, and the public. Applicants will be required to submit to a medical/physical examination consistent with the requirements of the position, which will include a drug screening. The ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge of working with combination 911 Fire/EMS department; have excellent interpersonal communication skills; along with an ability to be a great team member.

Required qualifications at time of appointment include: State of WI Certified Firefighter I and II, State of WI

Certified Driver Operator – Pumper, State of WI Licensed Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic,

CEVO/EVOC Training, NIMS 700, 100, & 200.

Required qualifications within two years of appointment include: State of WI Certified Firefighter Inspector,

State of WI Certified Driver Operator- Aerial, State of WI Certified Emergency Services Instructor I, NIMS 300,

400, & 800.

Salary:

This position is compensated at a bi-weekly gross take home pay of $2,164.83 and includes a competitive benefits package including health, life, dental, and income continuation insurance; State of WI Retirement System (WRS); and paid- time-off upon hire. The Village of Johnson Creek recognizes 11 holidays annually; the Full-time Firefighter/Paramedic position is paid double time on holidays worked. Total compensation package exceeds $85,300.
