Freight Manager

POSITION SUMMARY
Dunlop Sports & Srixon Cleveland Golf are seeking a highly motivated Freight Manager who can support the rapid growth of our organization. The incumbent will play a key role in ensuring on-time delivery of inbound shipments, managing relationships with internal and external supply chain partners, managing existing 3PLs and exploring new 3PL opportunities, optimizing inter-company shipments, ensuring compliance, and reducing freight costs. The Freight Manager role will be located at our Huntington Beach Headquarters. The Freight Manager will report into the Director of Supply Chain. We are looking for a Freight Manager who has a track record of being able to optimize logistics solutions, manage internal and external stakeholder relationships, and ultimately reduce logistic costs while embodying Dunlop Sports spirit and values.
SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES:
- Manage inbound and outbound logistics needs, scheduling, and freight, optimizing routes and costs.
- Responsible for the bidding of freight forwarder, customs broker, carrier and warehousing services.
- Maintain and develop strict cost management controls for all supply chain services.
- Identify optimal transportation modes, routing, quantity and frequency of inbound and outbound shipments.
- Manage 3PL solutions and identify opportunities to further leverage 3PLs as necessary.
- Identify opportunities of packaging and shipping solutions that ensure delivery of customer’s products without damange, improve the customer’s experience, increases sustainability, and reduce costs.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with Dunlop’s internal and external supply chain partners.
- Partner with the Sales & Customer Experience Teams to identify logistic solutions that improve Dunlop’s Customers Experience.
- Maximize customer satisfaction through on-time delivery.
- Provide key input and support for Medium & Long-Term Planning of warehousing and supply chain capabilities & requirements
- Review and establish policies and procedures that illustrate product flow throughout the supply chain, including ownership, responsibilities, and associated metrics and targets that demonstrate success.
- Identify technologies and investments to improve supply chain visibility, costs, customer impact and overall performance.
- Responsible for the development and maintance of KPIs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Planning, Sales, Customer Experience, Accounting, and our corporate supply chain partners in Japan to improve service and reduce costs.
SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS
- BS degree in Business, Logistics, or Systems with a minimum of 5 years of experience in supply chain or inventory management for a rapidly growing organization.
- Strong knowledge of logistics (transportation and warehousing) management
- Strong negotiation skills
- Strong understanding of logistics financials and cost management.
- Demonstrated experience identifying external or internal processes that are negatively impacting service or cost and implementing successful and lasting solutions.
- Demonstrated experience effectively partnering with carriers, third-party logistics and other supply chain partners to achieve positive business outcomes.
- Experience with Big Box retailers a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Power BI, Visio, & PowerPoint.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and demonstrated cost analysis.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Experience with JD Edwards ERP Systems (E1) preferred.
- Proven track record of data driven methodology to solve complex supply chain challenges.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to succinctly present recommendations.
- Self-motivated and able to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

- Bilingual (Japanese/English) is a plus.

COMPUTER PROGRAMS
- Experience with ERP/MRP Systems, JD Edwards experience a plus
- Proficient with Excel and Microsoft Office Suite, BI a plus
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- BS degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Systems or related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in freight, supply chain, or logistics management for a rapidly growing organization.
- Experience related to Golf or sports equipment industry supply chain and logistics is a plus
