Job Summary

The Freight Claims Specialist is primarily responsible for customer account collections and claims management and assists a multi-state operations team.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Strong attention to detail with broad functional knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
• Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft Office products with an emphasis in Excel.
• Proven ability to utilize Excel to create pivot tables, advanced formulas, and charts to efficiently dissect, organize, and display operations and financial data.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
• Ability to multi-task with excellent program management skills.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Experience with ERP systems.
• Ability to take the initiative.
• Associates Degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or Business
• Freight Claims experience a plus
• Experience with business-to-business collections
• 2+ years of accounting experience preferred

Responsibilities:

• Generates weekly analysis reports.
• Takes the lead as the primary contact for all claims-related transactions.
• Collects and coordinates all supporting documentation required to submit a claim to our customers and recover associated costs from various carriers.
• Follows up daily with carriers, customers, insurance companies, internal employees, etc.
• Ensures collections and payment of claims are timely.
• Elevates issues to management as necessary.
• Provides weekly and monthly updates to management on collections efforts and claims.
• Assist with accounting functions including but not limited to A/P and A/R.
• Willing to take on new responsibilities as needed.
