WHAT WILL I BE DOING?
CHI is looking for full-time and part-time Food Handlers for our Wading River location. You will package, prepare, and distribute pre-made meals to clients in an emergency housing setting. This is accomplished by performing the following functions:
- Prepare and serve meals during shift
- Prepare meal kits for future distribution
- Advise Program Manager of needs and complete food orders from vendor
- Serve as the point person for Contracted Food Vendor personnel
- Thoroughly clean entire work area after each meal distribution
- Record meal count and submit weekend statistics to Program Manager. Maintain binder for food service and update tracking sheets and menus monthly
- Attend staff meetings and training as scheduled

WHAT DO I NEED?
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
- Certificates or Licenses: Current New York State Food Handler’s Certificate
- Experience: One to two years working in a food service environment
- Insurance: Valid automobile insurance & driver’s license
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in English required, bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus
- Computer skills: Competency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Other Skills: Ability to relate to the underserved, homeless and disabled populations. Ability to work independently or as part of a team, be highly organized, assume responsibility, work well under pressure, meet deadlines, multitask, be flexible, and maintain a high level of attention to detail.

- Salary: $15.30
- Overtime available
- Open shifts:
- Full time: Mon-Fri 10am-6pm
- Part time: Sat/Sun 10am-6pm
