Job Title: Food Coordinator Staff

Pay Rate: $20-22

Job Summary:

The Food Service Coordinator provides support and assistance in organizing daily meals for clients at the Santa Maria Emergency Shelter.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop menus, order and purchase food and supplies, and coordinate with partnering agencies
  • Supervise food preparation and presentation, and ensure compliance with food safety regulations
  • Plan, organize and execute all aspects of food service operation
  • Coordinate and organize food groups that provide meals for the shelter
  • Manage and maintain the kitchen area, ensuring all inventory is fully stocked
  • Plan and purchase weekly meal items, utilizing Foodbank, Costco, Smart and Final and other resources to reduce costs
  • Prepare healthy and balanced meals for all shelter clients
  • Reach out to community groups to increase the number of food groups serving the shelter
  • Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area, ensuring that it is kept in a sanitary and organized condition at all times.
  • Keep records and document program related activities, including incident reports and client file documents
  • Interact with adult clients and their children and assist other Emergency Shelter staff in providing client services
  • Carry out additional responsibilities and duties as assigned
  • Administer and manage client medications in accordance with agency and certification standards
  • Participate in meetings as directed, representing the agency
  • Ensure compliance with organization policies and relevant laws
  • Conduct observed drug testing as needed.

Qualifications:

∙ AA or equivalent experience.

‘ Food service and cooking experience

∙ Ability to maintain clear personal and professional boundaries.

∙ Ability to work effectively in a constantly changing and sometimes demanding or chaotic environment.

∙ Experience working with a diverse population, with sensitivity to differences in culture, religion, sexual orientation, race, age, and physical and mental illness.

∙ Ability to remain alert and on duty throughout shifts.

∙ Ability to respond responsibly in emergency and crisis situations.

∙ Ability to communicate well both orally and in written form, and follow detailed instructions.

∙ Computer skills including use of Windows Office, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel with the ability to easily navigate through software programs

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
