Chevron is accepting online applications for the Fixed Equipment Integrity Engineer position through March 24th, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. (CST).
The Fixed Equipment Integrity (FEI) Engineer reports to the Fixed Equipment Integrity Technical Team Lead and is located in Pascagoula, MS. The position is responsible for providing technical support to the Fixed Equipment Integrity group to help ensure the safe and reliable operating condition of fixed equipment within Chevron’s Pascagoula Refinery. Beyond the Technical Team, the Fixed Equipment Integrity Engineer works closely with inspectors, designs & reliability engineers, and Division stakeholders on special projects and reliability improvement initiatives across the refinery. This position is on the Technical Career Ladder.
Candidate should be willing to commit to a minimum 24 month assignment.
This position is not responsible for supervising company or contract personnel on a normal basis, but the position could possibly supervise personnel for special projects and/or circumstances.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
- Provides fixed equipment engineering consulting to inspectors, engineers, management, and operators; including mechanical design, remaining life, risk, and repair strategies.
- Provides input for pressure vessel asset strategies, including the use of semi-quantitative Risk Based Inspection (RBI) per API 580 and API 581. May support duties of RBI engineer and RBI inspector with proper alignment.
- Supports the planning and execution of work plans for turnarounds and capital projects.
- Provides technical oversight and review of inspection findings and recommendations, asset strategies, and inspection data.
- Works with FEI team to scope inspection, repair, and replacement options to address inspection findings.
- May support Level 1 fitness-for-service assessments, especially complex assessments. May perform FFS level 2 or 3 assessments with training.
- Participates in fixed equipment failure root cause analysis investigations and develops/implements long-term solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Review bad actors and recommend corrective actions to increase equipment reliability.
- Acts as technical resource to assist in training personnel on industry and company codes as well as damage mechanisms per API RP 571, inspection techniques, and assessment methodologies for them.
- Participates in asset strategy reviews, life cycle cost analyses, and PHA studies. May also participate in or facilitate Damage Mechanism Reviews (DMRs).
- Analyzes data at a refinery wide level to identify opportunities mitigate loss of containment & reduce operating costs.
- Assists team members with data analysis, corrosion rates, risk assessments, and remaining life predictions for piping, pressure vessels, and tanks.
- This position may require some travel and overtime/weekend coverage, as business needs demand.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree
- Demonstrated 4+ years of experience in a refinery, chemical plant, LNG plant., and/or Reliability Engineering or equivalent, including design and repair of fixed equipment.
- Demonstrated safe working habits consistent with an Incident and Injury Free culture.
- Proven ability to work in and around operating facilities, manufacturer, and testing sites, with occasional climbing of ladders and entering into equipment.
- Job necessitates driving on a routine basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of equipment operation, mechanical design, material selection, damage mechanisms, inspection methods/practices, and repair techniques.
- API 579-1/ASME FFS-1 Experience
- API 581 Quantitative RBI experience.
- API 580 Risk Based Inspection Certification
- Able to work with Quantitative and Qualitative Risk Based Inspection Software
- Working knowledge of the Fixed Equipment Turnaround/Maintenance work processes
