MIT Recreation, managed by HealthFitness is looking for Fitness Desk Attendants to join the fitness team on campus at MIT located in Cambridge, MA. In this position, you will greet, check-in and assist customers; provide program information, services, membership and ensure the highest possible level of customer service and participant satisfaction. Applicants must be able to work weekday mornings (5:30-10:30am) and have weekend availability.

What you'll be doing

• Overseeing the fitness floor operations including: informing patrons of the policies and enforcing them when needed, attending to fitness equipment issues, and maintaining the safety of the fitness center and patrons at all times.
• Acting as the first responder in emergency situations including effective communication with Building Supervisors.
• Efficiently responds to client and participant requests, comments or concerns and brings issues to timely and appropriate resolution.
• Maintains and updates participant and facility policies as appropriate. Educate participants on policies and procedures.
• Opening and/or closing duties if applicable.

What you’ll provide

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous customer service experience a plus.
• Adult CPR/AED/First Aid certification from American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Safety & Health Institute required within 30 days of hire.
