Providence United Methodist Church Financial Associate
PT (25 hours per week. M-F afternoons)
Qualifications:
- Knowledge and proficiency in the areas of finance and data systems required.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- A degree in finance, accounting or business preferred.
- Willingness to collaborate and work alongside others (staff and volunteers) with a cooperative team spirit, greet the public, and support clergy staff as requested.
- Commitment and readiness to share in fulfilling the Vision and Mission of Providence UMC and to support the church’s strategic plan.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist the Business Manager with the financial affairs of the church.
- Work closely with Finance Chair and Business Manager in support of the annual operating budget, endowment, stewardship campaign, capital campaign, and other financial gifts made to the church.
- Oversees the processing of weekly financial transactions to include: Sunday offerings, payroll scheduling, accounts payable processing (under the supervision of the Business Manager).
- Process stock and bond transactions. Prepare and send acknowledgment letter.
- Post payroll information in the records and act as the back-up for payroll processing.
- Record and thank donors for all memorial gifts and honorariums made to the church.
- Reconcile credit card charges.
- Make miscellaneous deposits as instructed by the Business Manager.
- Keep all accounts payable records.
- Responsible for end of the month entries and bank account reconciliation.
- Develop and prepare the monthly financial reports needed to support the committees and operating areas of the church.
- Assist in administering financial controls and reporting.
- Assist the Business Manager and the Finance Chair in preparation of the annual church budget.
- Provide support for the annual audit.
- Coordinate the volunteers who work with financial related activities.
- Attend Staff Meetings and other meetings as requested.
- Other duties as assigned by the SPRC, the senior pastor or the Business Manager.
Accountability:
- The church will use an annual performance evaluation process. This will be intended to facilitate ongoing growth of the employee as well as to be a way to measure performance and to plan for the year ahead.
- Compensation will be reviewed annually as a part of the review process and salary adjustments and/or bonuses will be based on the availability of church funds.

Pay: $27,500.00 - $30,500.00 per year
