Must have at least 1 year experience in utilities, locating, OR a strong work ethic and desire to break into the utility industry with a leading damage reduction company.
What You Will Do
Our Underground Utility Locate Technicians use computer utility maps and specialized equipment to identify and mark underground utility precise locations. We provide all our technicians the tools and training to prevent damages and ensure overall safety during excavation. Problem-solvers who know that quality is their priority should consider a career as an Underground Utility Locate Technician with Southern Cross.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prioritizes excavation and active 811 requests. Routes daily priorities to routine ticket requests, regular hour emergencies, projects, and contractor coordination.
Utilizes the provided mapping tools and other location information, along with the most advanced locating equipment, to locate underground gas and electric utilities.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Attitude
Valid driver's license in applicable state of employment
Must be able to work overtime when duties cannot be performed within a normal work schedule
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, employees regularly:
Drive 50 to 200+ miles daily as required by assigned geographic locating area
Stand and walk lengthy distances (1+ miles)
Lift and/or move 50 pounds
Work outdoors in all weather conditions
What You Will Earn
Starting pay rate is $20hr and UP based on experience
$.50 rate increases at 60 days and then 180 days
