A Field Surveyor for Oceanside performs beach and hydrographic surveys, marine construction layout and GPS guidance in support of beach and marine construction projects.

THIS IS NOT AN ENTRY LEVEL POSITION! DO NOT APPLY WITHOUT AT LEAST ONE YEAR OF SURVEYING EXPERIENCE.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate surveys and positioning to ensure correct locations and measurements are maintained
• Provide surveys required for project monitoring and progress
• Responsible for the care and repair of survey equipment; including but not limited to Boats, Trucks, and UTV’s.
• Maintain accurate field notes and documentation of all survey activities
• Coordinate survey activities with the Project Engineer to meet schedule requirements
• Assist in the generation of daily reports and records

Requirements:

• Prior experience with topographic and hydrographic surveying. Including familiarity with Hypack, Trimble single beam and multibeam sonar systems, and 3D laser scanners.
• Ability to work in an outdoor field environment for long durations, including weekends, with flexible hours. 30% of the field work may be out of the country. Valid passport and driver’s license is required, or the ability to attain one upon hire.
• Positive attitude and self-motivated work ethic.
• Experience and comfort on boats to 40FT in offshore and nearshore areas – ability to operate a vessel.
• Must be able to lift or carry miscellaneous equipment, supplies and parts up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
• Ability to learn hydrographic and topographic survey equipment and procedures.
• General computer proficiency including, but not limited to Microsoft office, excel, and outlook.

Preferred:

• Microsoft Excel proficiency.
• Prior experience in dredging, marine construction, hydrographic and topographic surveying.
• Experience reading construction plans.
• Basic knowledge of CAD software.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,558.16 - $55,765.79 per year
