NARA Northwest is growing faster than ever before. We are looking for our next Parent Support Line Specialist who can add to our dynamic medical team. This is a fast-paced environment that requires lots of critical thinking and problem-solving skills. We have fun while providing exceptional customer service.
Will provide phone and telehealth support primarily for families needing assistance in the NARA community. Duties include answering phone calls or offering video contact, using basic behavioral techniques to assist with emotional management, crisis intervention, assist with connection to resources, or referral to other professionals if needed (medical, mental health, addictions, or cultural supports,) and follow-up services.
DUTIES:
- Provide phone and/or video support to individuals, parents, and family units.
- Provide crisis intervention services, including referral, follow-up, cultural supports, and outreach services as necessary.
- Assess risk for callers and take necessary steps to ensure safety.
- Serve as consultant and liaison with referral sources and treatment providers.
- Participate in assisting with certain projects as the need arises.
- Participate in community mental health awareness and community outreach programs of NARA NW.
- Establish and maintain working relationships and referral systems with local family resources.
- Participate in integrated care meetings, site specific meetings, and mental health staff meetings as needed.
- Participate in quality assurance activities including chart reviews.
- Attend relevant training as assigned.
- Attend specialty training on family support care.
- Work collaboratively with clients, other NARA NW staff, team members, and to always treat everyone with respect and dignity.
- Complete progress notes and other documentation in required timeframes.
- Maintain logs and clinical records documenting support calls, follow-up, and outcomes.
- Collect outcome data as needed.
- May be tasked with organizational or clerical duties or other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in social services field or credentialed as a QMHA.
- Two years paid experience in community mental health services or one year experience in crisis or referral line support work
- Previous experience with Native American/ Alaskan Native families strongly preferred.
- Additional training around senior services, culture, and knowledge of community resources and entitlement programs preferred.
- Ability to engage and interact positively with families to promote strengths and improve health and wellbeing.
- Initiative to communicate effectively in coordinating care.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge and skill in working in a multi-cultural environment.
- Good understanding of professional role and boundaries.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment or for cause drug tests.
- Ability to pass criminal background and DMV checks.
