Snelling is currently recruiting for an experienced Facility Grounds Keeper/Inventory Specialist for a well-established electric utility manufacturer in the Tuscaloosa area. The starting pay for the position is $17/hr depending on experience. 1st shift hours! Apply today with confidence!A Brief Summary of This Position:
The Grounds Maintenance and Inventory Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that the physical aspects of the Tuscaloosa campus meet the company’s established standards through cleaning and maintaining grounds as well as helping to control inventory levels. The incumbent will provide diagnosis and solutions in areas such as waste removal, recycling, pole yard weed control, inventory control, receiving, and other tasks as needed. The incumbent will also assist with coordinating outside contractors and other professionals to complete various tasks on campus.
Essential Functions:
- General plant maintenance (painting, mowing, recycling, trash pickup, etc.)
- Daily operation of forklift and loader
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools, welder torch, and a motor vehicle; maintain equipment in effective and safe working condition; maintain parts and tool inventory
- Maintain related records concerning time, labor and materials; maintain log of tasks performed and write reports as required
- Receive packages and verify receipt of correct goods and quantities
- Rotate and maintain inventory levels for production supplies
- Work closely with purchasers and plant supervision
- Promote safety by ensuring grounds maintenance requirements are carried out in safe, effective manner.
- Promote and support production and administrative work times by maintaining a safe working facility.
- Promote and support production and administrative work times by maintaining an orderly warehouse.
- Required to properly use facility equipment (cranes, man-lifts, forklifts, tractors, maintainer, etc.)
- Occasionally will be called in during irregular hours to perform required maintenance.
- Ability to operate hand tools and industrial equipment and vehicles
- The ability to occasionally work under high stress situations in adverse conditions for an extended time
- Good analytical skills and attention to detail with ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and manuals.
- Excellent customer service skills with desire to exceed customer expectations.
- Ability to work independently in a timely manner, making sure job is done correctly the first time.
- A valid driver’s license and safe driving record
- Strong oral and written communication skills to clearly and concisely present information to management
