Export Compliance Manager - Florence, KY

Mazak corporation is looking for an Export Compliance Manager to manage and support the team members to ensure the machine shipments are done in a timely manner following the U.S. Export Regulations and other applicable regulations as well as in accordance with Mazak Policies. This position report to the Export Department located at the Florence, KY headquarters.

Scope and Responsibilities:

Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage international shipments to ensure compliance with Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and federal trade regulations.
  • Obtain export licenses; re-export licenses and commodity classification rulings administered by the Bureau of Industry & Security (BIS) of the U.S. Department of Commerce via Simplified Network Application Process Redesign (SNAP-R).
  • Monitor and conduct prohibited party screening on all export shipments.
  • Ensure coordination for the movement of goods from shipper's door to international destination(s) via truck, air, and ocean are 100% accurate.
  • Interact with internal Legal Counsel on compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Review contracts and purchase orders for trade compliance.
  • Daily communication with customers & internal sales regions on export requirements and incoterms for new purchase orders.
  • Determine Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN) & U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule Codes.
  • Coordinate with U.S. Customs Brokers to obtain in-bond movements (T&E, I.T., I.E.) for immediate export from U.S port of entry.
  • Evaluate Freight Forwarder/Customs Broker/Carrier performances and negotiate domestic and international freight rates.
  • Maintain data/records in accordance with compliance regulations.
  • Prepare monthly payment/shipment status reports for Business Process Improvement meetings.
  • Prepare monthly shipment forecast reports.
  • Conduct training on export compliance and other related topics among regional sales teams and distributors.
  • Serve as a point of contact for advice, resources, education, and coordination of export compliance.
  • May require domestic and international travel.
  • Perform yearly performance reviews.

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree is required or 10-years of experience in Export Compliance.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of U.S. Export Laws
  • Team player
  • Must be able to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Computer skills (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.) to prepare weekly and monthly reports
  • Analytical Skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholder
  • Ability to work well under pressure
