Quick Supply Company is a family-owned business that began serving the construction industry in 1938 supplying explosives and offering blasting services to limestone quarries throughout the Midwest. Today, we offer blasting services throughout the Midwest and Southeast. In addition to explosives, we stock a complete line of geosynthetics, erosion/sediment control products, and also landscape materials with coast-to-coast locations.

Job Summary

As a Blaster, you will directly lead or assist in the design, layout, prepare and detonate blasts at customer locations while meeting the established customer requirements and ensuring safety on the job. This position supports the direction of Project Manager and reports blasting results and status to both for input and direction.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ability to develop the plan for the appropriate use of explosives to properly serve the customer.
• Ability to layout, prepare and detonate shots
• Verifies that pre-blast inspections have been conducted prior to blasting to secure a safe blast area and a successful detonation.
• Complete all required inventory tracking paperwork, including field blast reports, and magazine inventory paperwork.
• Must be flexible to customer demands including scheduling and working around weather changes.
• Assist Location Manager in maintaining magazine area and inventory.
• Understands and follows company safety policies and procedures and performs work in a safe manner
• Attends all company meetings & safety trainings as required
• Loading and unloading trucks.
• Transport explosives and other materials to/from customer locations.
• Warehouse operation/maintenance.
• All other duties as assigned.

Job requirements and qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Blasting License required
• Meet all State and Federal explosives laws as set forth by the BATF
• Valid Class B CDL with Hazmat and Tanker Endorsements or have the ability to obtain one within 90-days of hire.
• Meet all FMSCR requirements
• Ability to pass background check, pre-employment screening and random drug/alcohol screenings (no felonies/DUI/DWI)
• Good organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to lead, listen, train and work well as a team member.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions and have the ability to lift 50lbs or more
• Frequent exposure to heavy equipment.
• Willingness to 50-60 hours a week, particularly during the high peak business season (typically April-November), 40 hours a week during the off-season , sometimes undesirable ranges of climate and weather conditions.
• Walks/traverses, stands on rough terrain, bends frequently, climbs ladders, steps and other elevated platforms

Compensation and Benefit Package

• Starting wage begins at $20.00-$24.00 an hour, depending on experience & qualifications
