Job description

We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Medical Billing Specialist to join our team on a contract basis, with the opportunity to convert to a full-time employee.

A strong knowledge of practice management systems is required, as you will be using several different EHR/ EMR systems. We are looking for someone who possesses in-depth knowledge of billing software and medical insurance policies related to Acupuncture and Chiropractic providers.

What you will do:

• Verify patient eligibility for insurance coverage of their visits, by insurance portal and/or calling the insurance company.
• Complete insurance claims submission. This could require manual data entry and/ or batch processing.
• Run aging reports and research, collect, appeal or re-bill claims.
• Initiate written appeals for contract discrepancies and underpayments.
• Follow up on all unpaid claims. This could require calls with the insurance payer.
• Maintains current knowledge of changes to coding requirements and communicates to providers and staff as appropriate.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience with medical records, claims and billing.
• Experience with third party medical billing is preferred.
• Highly proficient with EHR and Practice Management Systems.
• Previous acupuncture office or chiropractic billing experience strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 coding, as well as HIPAA regulations.
• Associate’s degree or higher in business, health care administration, accounting or relevant field, or a certificate in medical coding.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
