As the Environmental Graphic Design Director, you will lead the continued growth, evolution, and positioning of our EGD and Branding projects across all market sectors.

You will lead a team by example, aligned with our open and flexible culture that encourages individual initiative and collaboration. You will build trusting relationships within the team and across Kahler Slater.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities for the Environmental Graphic Design Director:

Leadership

• Inspire, motivate, and lead environmental graphics project staff in client service, design approach, and project delivery
• Establish an environment that encourages experimentation, innovation, and design creativity
• Contribute to a high level of energy and enthusiasm in the firm, and foster a spirit of collaborative problem solving and design excellence

Project Development

• Lead teams to deliver transformational experiences for our clients, providing strategic advisory and project design leadership
• Lead the generation and translation of design and planning concepts into final solutions
• Direct communication with clients and consultants that maintains a project’s creative intent

Business Development

• Support team marketing and business development efforts which could include marketing proposal strategies, interviews, project pursuits, networking events, and thought leadership

Skills, Abilities, and Leadership for the Environmental Graphic Design Director:

• 10+ years as a design professional with experience in environmental graphic design within buildings and sites
• Relevant design degree in areas including graphic design, industrial design, interior architecture, architecture, or related field
• Confident using a variety of software including a command of the Adobe Creative Suite
• Demonstrates the ability to build strong relationships externally and internally; is considered capable of communicating ideas, effectively listening, and engaging with client leadership teams
• Strong presentation skills, including being articulate and convincing in interviews and presentations
• Strong coaching and mentoring skills with the ability to handle conflict directly and tactfully
• Effective time management with multiple deadlines while maintaining focus, positive attitude

Working Relationships and Scope for the Environmental Graphic Design Director:

• The Environmental Graphic Design Director will work closely with other team and firm leaders to create, promote, and deliver Design opportunities within the firm’s vision.
• Some regional and national travel is required to serve clients, develop new business, and for professional development. Our expectation is you will spend most of your time with existing clients, prospective clients, and strategic business partners.
