The Role

We’re hiring an Engineering Manager (Infrastructure) to join our fast-paced, innovative, and remote-first environment. You will lead a team of engineers responsible for improving and maintaining Apploi’s core products. Working directly with customers and your peers, you will develop an engineering strategy focused on creating intuitive, scalable software for healthcare providers.

Who You Are

• At least 2 years of managerial experience
• 3 years of experience with Python and Terraform
• Comfortable with Jira or similar project management tool
• Familiar with AWS infrastructure. Certifications are a plus.
• Experience as an engineering leader as well as a hands-on contributor
• Experience mentoring cross-functional teams
• Experience managing an engineering team of 5+ direct reports
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Strong work ethic, integrity, and desire to succeed
• Adaptable to new initiatives

What You’ll Do

• Lead the DevOps and Security teams to maintain and support our production systems
• Play a critical role in transitioning Apploi from a monolith in Heroku to microservices in AWS (Docker, ECS, EKS, RDS, CloudFront, EventBridge, SQS, etc.)
• Align with product managers and the VP of Engineering on priorities
• Remove project or team roadblocks and respond to and prioritize requests from members outside the team
• Perform 1:1 meetings with direct reports
• Complete Jira cards when a team needs additional help (e.g., vacations, answering simple questions to keep the team on track)
• Advocate for the engineering and technical posture of the team
• Watch industry trends and stay up-to-date with the changes and improvements in backend and frontend engineering. Align with the architecture team on trends.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional peers to set the direction of your team and develop your product roadmap
• Facilitate your team's planning, including prioritization, sequencing, and staffing
• Own execution in your team to steadily deliver value to Apploi users
• Be responsible for maintaining a high-quality bar for everything your team ships
• Recruit, coach, and develop engineers; ensure engineers regularly receive feedback and progress on personal and professional goals.
