Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • You live to experiment, test, fail fast, and learn as you go, we are not looking for a cookie cutter solution to our complex problems. Be able to code for >80% of the time, in addition to troubleshooting production issues (as applicable)
  • Able to manipulate metadata to create new user experiences.
  • Holistically review all Metadata systems across DISH and help with a modern architecture for the Advanced Discovery and Metadata platform, in conjunction with other architects and engineers.
  • Setup content and metadata ingestion pipelines and conduct data synthesis for new sources (ReelGood, IMDB, Rotten Tomato,...)
  • Provide direction to develop APIs for metadata consumption
  • Assist with the creation of 3rd party provider feeds and metadata into Sling and DISH systems.
  • Provide architectural guidance to enhance the pipeline for content curation, while automating where applicable.
  • Develop glue-codes for metadata processing and management

Skills, Experience and Requirements:
Must have:
  • A 4-year college degree in Computer Science / Information Technology, Bachelor of Science preferred, master’s degree is preferred
  • Superior knowledge of Object Oriented design and patterns
  • Proficiency with GoLang (or Python). Must have hands-on 3+ years of coding experience.
  • Experience with metadata modeling, ontology in the media/entertainment domain
  • Experience with AI/ML to create personalized experiences.
  • Overall understanding of media workflow and content ingest
  • Knowledge of Media Asset Management (MAM), 3rd party metadata provider (Gracenote), and metadata packaging functions. OR an interest in learning about metadata and how it can be leveraged, manipulated and tailored to drive user experience and to create new OTT streaming features.
  • Prior knowledge of building products/solutions in the media domain
  • Familiarity with in-memory database such as Redis
  • Experience working with and developing in AWS
  • Experience with Agile methodologies/DevOps environments
  • Exceptional communication skills: verbal, written, listening

Nice to have:

  • Experience with HTTP/REST and writing web services
  • Understanding of computer vision technology
  • Familiarity with a scripting language

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location. Candidates need to successfully complete a pre-employment screen, which may include a drug test and DMV check.
Salary Range: USD $70000.00 - $110000.00 / Year
