RWE is one of the largest clean energy developers and asset owner / operator in the world and in the US. The Energy Storage Development team at RWE Renewables Americas is responsible for initiating, developing, and acquiring utility-scale energy storage projects in the US and Canada. The Development Associate will play a key role in delivering energy storage projects in alignment with RWE's strategy in North America.

Responsibilities

• Support project origination and development, e.g. negotiation of site control agreements, site due diligence, securing land use and environmental approvals, and advancing projects through the interconnection process, obtaining project easements, curative title work
• As required, assist more experienced developers working on Storage origination and development projects and complete assigned tasks on schedule and in accordance with given instructions
• Support regional Development teams in creation and maintenance of all project budgets and schedules, and perform analysis of spending and development of accurate forecasts
• Support the internal financial approval process for assigned development projects
• Support risk analyses/assessments and recommend mitigation measures
• Coordinate with internal teams on interconnection, new market evaluation, and power marketing
• Interface with and coordinate inputs from subject matter experts, including engineering, legal, procurement and construction personnel, as needed to ensure effective execution of assigned solar projects

Qualifications

Development Associate

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, business/economics, or energy-related field. Advanced degree is a plus
• Exposure to development or adjacent areas within the power sector (e.g. market analysis, transmission & interconnection, PPA marketing, electrical engineering, environmental analysis, M&A…) is an advantage
• Structured and organized, able to manage multiple projects at the same time
• Strong analytical skills, presentation skills and attention to detail
